5th September 2015 El Questro to Home Valley Station via Emma Gorge

More beautiful weather.  Today we explored Emma Gorge - a spectacular walk which took just over an hour and which involved climbing many boulders.  The locals refer to it as Emergency Gorge due to the number of accidents when tourists slip when climbing over rocks.  A woman recently had to be air-lifted out after breaking her ankle.  We finally reached the head of the gorge for a swim in the cool water and a view of the multi-coloured cliffs towering above.

The clear water was very cold but refreshing after the walk

The track through the gorge - pretty rough going in places

After enjoying our walk & swim at Emma Gorge, we drove on to Home Valley Station crossing the Pentecost River.  As we were travelling late in the season, the water was not very deep.

Home Valley has an excellent restaurant with
entertainment in the Dusty Bar

The food was very good and the
decor of old tools,
wheelbarrows and more
made a perfect setting
