1st September 2015 Banka Banka to Victoria River NT

Weather - Hot, dry and dusty

Leaving Banka Banka we travelled north up the Stuart Highway.  We then headed west to Victoria River for a couple of nights r n r.  735 km

Victoria River

We walked down to the Victoria River to view the new and old bridges.  The old bridge was often subject to flooding and the new bridge was built much higher to prevent closures due to flooding.

The highway is above on the new bridge to avoid flooding -

Still some water here in the river but all around it is very, very dry as the drought continues.

Very dry and dusty

If we are only stopping for 1 or 2 nights we use the sun
umbrella instead of the awning & insect screens are essential in this climate

Our kitchen - cooktop on left,  sink on right - drawers underneath

Another busy camping ground!

Once again, facilites here were old but clean.  A little maintenance could be useful.  The servo provides meals if required.
